Takeover is one of Hexodic’s three wins: a player wins by Takeover when, at the end of their own turn, they have captured 6 or more enemy stones over the whole game. Captured stones return to their owner’s reserve and can be Placed again, but the capture count never goes down.

What counts toward Takeover
- Encirclement captures from the end-of-turn capture check.
- Echo-Capture captures, which can take a whole sealed group in one turn.
- Move captures onto a lower enemy cell.
The count is cumulative for the whole game, so a player can reach Takeover even when the opponent keeps re-Placing the same stones.
Playing for Takeover
Takeover favours the attacker who controls height: encirclement needs the target on tier 1 or 2 and surrounded by heavier ground. A player close to Takeover with a charge left is especially dangerous, because an Echo-Capture can finish several captures at once. Capture count is also the tiebreak’s third step if the game reaches the half-move cap.
